Dubai accounted for 56% of the total capital investment in industry in the UAE at the end of 1995. According to the Ministry of Finance and Industry, investment in Dubai amounted to Dh7.67 billion, compared with Dh1.58 billion in Abu Dhabi and Dh1.54 billion in Sharjah.	Emirates has launched flights to Athens and Melbourne, its 39th and 40th destinations. The airline also took delivery of its first Boeing 777 during the month.
A Dh167 million unleaded gasoline plant is planned in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The construction of the project, 20% funded by Emirates Industrial Bank, is scheduled to start in September with completion in 1998. Output will be some 18,000 barrels per day.	Taiwanese telecommunications company Senao International will start assembling cordless telephones in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The company expects to open its factory, warehouse and office complex within a few months.
Dubai's industrial manpower amounted to 49,870 in 1995, more than half the national total of 99,400.The average annual productivity of industrial manpower grew by four per cent to Dh246,078 last year.	ITW DeVilbiss, an American paint spraygun manufacturer, has opened its Middle East regional office and training centre in Dubai.
Austrian Airlines has started scheduled operations to Dubai with a once weekly service, increasing to twice weekly in winter.	Britain's Thorn Security International has opened a regional office in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The company specialises in fire protection, security and building management.
Dubai Ports Authority has been awarded ISO9002 accreditation for its container handling business.	DHL Worldwide Express has announced that it will complete the first privately-funded facility in the new Dubai Airport Free Zone before the end of this year. The 42,000 square foot building will cost $4 million.
Dubai-based United Foods Company, whose products include ghee, butter, vegetable oil and margarine, is doubling its ghee production capacity to 40,000 tons and entering the US market. The company already exports throughout the region and to Europe.	A group of Taiwanese petrochemical companies is considering the establishment of a naphtha cracking complex in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
A Dh165 million expansion programme will double the size of the JW Marriott Hotel and increase capacity to 360 rooms and suites.	India's Taj Group of Hotels has signed an agreement to manage the Princeton Hotel.
Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait and Bank Muscat Al Ahli Al Omani have both announced plans to open representative offices in Dubai in September.	Montblanc, the German pen and luxury accessories company, has opened a retail outlet in Dubai.
Emirates Bank International, Middle East Bank and the Commercial Bank of Dubai have announced the linking of their ATM networks to provide customers with more than 60 cash points around the UAE.	VSL Group of Switzerland has announced that it is opening an office in Dubai. The company is a specialist contractor in post-tensioning and related engineering.
Orbit, the satellite TV network, has opened an office in Dubai.	A new 15-kilometre, four-lane Dubai-Sharjah highway is to be completed before the end of 1997. The Dh45 million project will link the Khawaneej area of Dubai with the Saaja area of Sharjah.
